CCTV is powerful, and it is regulated. Every system we design complies with the Surveillance Devices Act 1998 (WA), which prohibits audio recording of private conversations without consent and restricts imaging of neighbouring private property without proper configuration.

We install signage at every camera zone, configure privacy masks to exclude adjoining land from recording, and harden every network video recorder against remote compromise with non-default credentials, TLS-encrypted remote access and role-based user permissions. For regulated clients we produce an access log, a retention policy and a footage request procedure, so the governance framework holds three years after commissioning.

The site walk is where most value is decided. Our experienced team arrives with a tape measure, a test camera, a ladder and a torch. We work through four questions. Where are the actual entry points, including the ones people ignore because “nobody would come in that way.” What does the lighting look like at 10pm rather than 2pm.

What is the identification target, because recognising a known face is different to capturing a number plate at 50 metres. And where is the existing data cabling, because running Cat6 through a 1960s brick-and-tile roof space is a different job to a 2019 build with accessible voids.

The output is a camera plan that specifies which camera is a bullet, which is a turret, which is a PTZ, and why. We sign off on image quality targets at commissioning, which means we return at night to confirm the infrared throw actually reaches the back fence before we invoice.
